Graphics and Winning a Generation
I've noticed that people tend to believe that it is the strongest console graphically that will win the total sales war each generation but notice this:
The NES beat the Sega Master System, the SNES and Genesis pretty muched tied but held off the Atari Jaguar, 3D0 and several other systems, the Game Boy won despite being the weakest out of systems like the Lynx and Game Gear, the PSX won despite being weaker than the N64, the GBA...well I'm not sure what handheld competition it had...the N-Gage I guess which was techincally more powerful, the PS2 won this last generation despite being weaker than both the GCN and XBox, currently the Nintendo DS is beating the PSP, and if many peoples predictions are correct the PS3 could lose to both the Wii and the 360 despite probably being the strongest graphically of the 3.
I'll hold off judgement on the Wii/360/PS3 race till it is farther along. While there are other factors that affected things, expense (3DO, Saturn), timing (Dreamcast, Saturn), power consumption (Game Gear) etc it all comes down to the obvious reason: Games.
So this whole post is pointless and is only pointing out the obvious.
