Random Stuff
It's been a week since I blogged last thought I might try some random stuff.

- Had a good 4th of July weekend. Saw Superman Returns with my dad, went across the state to visit my relatives. My oldest cousin Brandon is 6 and with the right nudge could be a gamer. Right now he is obsessed with Mario Kart Double Dash. He isn't particularily good, though he is getting better, but he loves playing the courses over and over again. Last time I was around him for any amount of time he made me sick of playing the game. I'm pretty sure I didn't touch the game for several months afterwards. Might be the same this time. But I introduced to the world of Katamari Damacy with We <3 Katamari. The kid played for 45 minutes in the last world rolling a gigantic Katamari ball. While I read and gave him encouragement and redirected him on occassion. He even watched me play through Legend of Zelda without a complaint.
- In gaming, I bought Gunstar Super Heros at Wal-Mart. Seems solid enough. Treasure knows how to make good shooters/platformers. Aside from that I've been playing random stuff. Some Viewtiful Joe, Resident Evil (found my lost copy, under the damned couch though I had already looked there), etc. Just don't have the patience to play one game.
- I'm of course very excited for the Nintendo Wii. I really like what Nintendo is trying to do. And that isn't to say I'm necessarily bored with the way things are right now but I think a little disruption might do the industry some good. I just want a date and price. That's all I'm asking for Nintendo.
- In baseball, the Braves are playing better than they did in June but I'm not foreseeing a 15th division title. The Mets finally have bought a team that is solid with big names as opposed to just having big names. My only problem is that I don't know how to handle a losing season. I started watching baseball in ernest just before the streak but didn't really comprehend all the winning and losing stuff for awhile. So now I'm stuck with an underachieving team (they should have a far better record than they have) and they may not even make the playoffs. Sure their recent playoffs history has been how you say, lacking, but as I tell my friends who are used to losing I'd rather make the playoffs every year and not win the World Series than not at all. Sure it is a bummer every time they exit but every year they still have that chance of making it and winning it. Dissappointment is nothing new to me, I'm also a Minnesota Vikings fan and dissappointment is the name of the game for them. I still can't believe that there are sports radio hosts who think that the Vikings had a bad strech because of Randy Moss and Culpepper. If they weren't paying attention, the combination of Moss and Culpepper kept the Vikings heads above water while that defense worked very hard to drag them down in the mire. Now the talking heads are pleased lets see how they do with a full season of Brad Johnson and possibly improved defense. I'm not going to hold my breath.
