Much like a certain religion, there are people in this country (and elsewhere I'm sure) who use Christianity as a cover to spout off disgusting bigotry and intolerance. Currently those freaks at the Westboro Baptist Church out of Kansas are hiding behind the veil of Christianity and protesting the deaths of soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.

This picture essentially explains their position.

These people are disgusting pieces of human filth and as an agnostic I'm still a better Christian than those people ever will be. I'd suggest they should feel ashamed of themselves but I don't think shame is something they can even comprehend much less show. I'd like to note that there were only 7 of them protesting the funeral of Spc. Michael L. Hermanson.

But the shining light is that more than 200+ members of the Patriot Guard, a group of bikers and military veterans, showed up to silently give their support for Michael and protect his family and friends from being verbally and visually assaulted by the Westboro protestors.

These people are truly decent people. I'd love to have joined them but I was not in Fargo to do so. I may not even agree with them on all of their politics but with this issue I don't see how any clear minded person wouldn't want to do the same.
