Championship Games and Quality

After the Super Bowl I'm seeing lots of complaints about the "low quality" of the game. Now I won't say it was a spectacular game or anything but why is it that for championship games we expect that the game will be the #1 game of the year and be near perfect? This may be a result of the hype that championship games (and particularily the Super Bowl) get. We spend 2 weeks talking about the game and typically it ends up less than expected, which shouldn't be a shock whether it is the Super Bowl or any other championship.

But frankly, I don't feel we should have so much higher expectations for our championship games. When you break it down there isn't all that much a differance between the Super Bowl and the first games of the season, aside from what is at stake.
