Is This Irony?

A week back or so I saw a commercial with David Spade in it. He was comparing the salary of a fireman and an acting dog. Essentially he pointed out that the dog made $60,000 to bark on cue while the fireman made, I believe, $50,000, which is a $10,000 difference.

His point was how sad it was that the dog made more than the fireman. True enough. It is sad.

Then I thought, “Isn’t it even sadder that David Spade probably made two or three times that firefighter’s annual salary for that commercial? Or that he makes whatever a B-level star makes for a TV-show or something which is probably more than that firefighter makes yearly?”

Interesting that he didn’t point that out, isn’t it? I’m not sure if that is irony or not but it sure is dumb.
