My Top 10 Games of All Time List

Over at IGN.com they are doing another Top 100 Games of All Time List. These lists are nice but I'd rather see a Top 10 each individual editor with their reasons as opposes to a comprehensive list that'll just piss off the fanboys.

And since I do love making lists I'm going to do my own.

Chris' Top 10 Games of All Time

1. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time/A Link to the Past - N64/SNES

- Yeah I have yet to be able to choose between these two gems. They are both so great that it's like choosing between children. To me they represent to me the best of the SNES and N64 eras and I've beaten them both more times than any other game. I still play them quite a bit and hope to continue for a long time.

2. Metroid Prime - GCN

- This was my first complete Metroid experience and the game made me a fan. I love the exploration involved and just enough shooting to keep you interested.

3. Super Mario 64 - N64

- When I still turn this game on I get a tingly feeling that I got when I first played way back when. My first real 3D experience and just a whole lot of fun. For a first attempt at 3D platforming Nintendo did great.

4. Conker's Bad Fur Day - N64

- That wonderful foul mouthed squirell. I still get a kick out of the game and note that it is the last good game Rare has done in years. Variety, humor, good gameplay, good voice acting, you really can't go wrong with this game.

5. Super Smash Brothers Melee - GCN

- This is probably the odd game in my collection but since I got it in 2001 this is the only game I've played consistently. While simple on the surface getting good at it requires much practice. I had a great time at ACEN this spring playing against other skilled players.

6. Metal Gear Solid - PSX

- I'm tempted to put The Twin Snakes here instead but I have to give the original version it's due since it is my favorite PSX game. Great story, very good stealth gameplay, and some kick ass cinema which are also my only complaint at times since they just go on and on and on and on....

7. Resident Evil 4 - GCN

- A needed restructuring breathed new life into this series. Fast paced and intense this game had it all as and probably should be considered more action horror than survival horror. It'll be interesting to see how this game leads into the rest of the series.

8. Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening - GB

- Another great Zelda title. Great use of the system with a great overworld and pretty much translated top down Zelda to a handheld perfectly. My favorite Game Boy game ever and favorite handheld game ever.

9. ICO - PS2

- This game took me by surprise. At first I thought it wasn't anything then I beat it then beat it again in a shorter period of time and was really taken aback by the beauty of it all. Though short it feels like somehow longer.

10. EarthBound - SNES

- Great old style RPG yet is so out of the mold it's amazing. Good humor, interesting characters, and you get to beat up hippies. What more can any person want? Well other than a sequel?

11-25 - Man is this going to be hard.

11. Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask - N64
12. Katamari Damacy - PS2
13. Super Mario Bros. 3 - NES
14. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater - PS2
15. Legend of Zelda - NES
16. Silent Hill - PSX
17. Resident Evil 2 - PSX
18. Super Mario World - SNES
19. Yoshi's Island: Super Mario World 2 -
20. Viewtiful Joe - GCN
21. Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - GCN
22. Pikmin - GCN
23. Goldeneye 007 - N64
24. Super Mario Bros. - NES
25. Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap - GBA
