Political Beliefs
I'm not entirely sure where I fall in the political spectrum but I do feel I am right of center. The blogs I have in my link column are fairly influential to me and what I believe in. I'm going to try to define my views in case anyone happens to hit this site.
War on Terror - This is probably the only thing from Bush that I can say that I agree pretty much totally on. Before 9/11 though I was a bit more on the liberal side thinking that talking to and trying to understand these people would be the way. After I decided that these people have no interest in talking. They want us all dead, whether you are Christian, Aethiest, Jew, Muslim who doesn't agree with them, or any other ideology if you don't follow their view of Islam then they believe deserve to die, that is what they think. No I do not believe all Muslims are terrorists, far from it, but I do believe that most terrorists are Muslim right now, or at least are the most common right now. I belive we were right in going into Iraq whether or not Hussein was directly or indirectly connected to the 9/11 attacks doesn't matter, he supported terrorists. Al Queda isn't the only terrorist group out there and the only way to tackle them is to take out the countries that support them. I regret the loss of life and the fact that the US has had to do some questionable things to achieve the objective but hopefully it'll lead to something better for everyone.
Religion - I am not a very religious person. I've grown quite skeptical of organized religion and the forcibly imposed ignorance they want to put us in. Even though I do not believe Bush is trying to create a theocracy the fact he isn't doing more to curb the influence of the religious right bugs me.
Gay Rights - Gays should be allowed to marry, no question. I think it'd help if the government would make it so gays could marry without calling it a marriage which would hopefully calm down some anti-gay marriage folks.
The Left - I have very little patience for liberals. Most of them spend more time bitching about problems than actually doing anything and when they try to do anything about it they tend to do the exact things that make hurt their cause. In general I feel they are lead by morons who think they are the majority when they are just the outspoken minority. You'd think the last elections tactic of calling people in the middle stupid would have caused for them to change but nope. Don't even get me started on the Democrats.
The Right - I actually had high hopes for the Right after last year's election. I thought Bush might move to the middle and try to bring the country togethor but instead they've done idiotic things that just piss off us who are moderate conservatives.
The United Nations - Such a wonderful idea so pitifully implented. I had little respect for them when I was a liberal, I have no respect for them now. It amazes me that people can support such a corrupt, ineffective body that is unwilling to flex whatever meager muscle it may have. Third World Dictators have been laughing off UN Sanctions for years without changing a damned thing but they insist and talking and diplomacy. Think they'd realize it doesn't work. Now the US is doing what the UN should have done years ago and it is just pissing off that pathetic organization. I'd hope out of shame but I have little hopes for them actually having that emotion.
